Medical Air Rescue Services (MARS) has been in operation since 1991. It operates 10 bases in Zimbabwe in Harare, Bulawayo, Kwekwe, Gweru, Victoria Falls, Mutare, Masvingo, Kariba & Marondera. With a fleet of road ambulances & air ambulance, MARS is ideal for evacuating patients from Southern and Central African region and beyond because of the following reasons:

  • Due to its geographical position MARS has a one and a has hour advantage flying time over South Africa
  • Employs full time medical personnel and pilots
  • MARS operates call center 24/7 from Harare

Air Ambulance

 

The flight team comprises a doctor, intensive care nurse & two pilots. MARS can transfer patients from the scene of accident to the nearest appropriate medical facility in and out of Zimbabwe. All medical flight staff have attended international aviation medicine and flight medical attendant courses. On board is equipment of intensive care unit standard including comprehensive drug range. To date Air Ambulance has performed over 2750 successful evacuations.

Road Ambulance

 

MARS a fleet of road ambulances spread throughout Zimbabwe, and ideally positioned to service not only the domestic market, but the Southern and Central African region as well. The company employs over 200 highly qualified professionals including doctors, nurses, ambulance technicians and medical dispatchers. These medical personnel have extensive experience and training in emergency evacuation and are on stand by 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Training Services

 

The MARS Training school is accredited to the Southern African Resuscitation Council and affiliated to the American Heart Association. The school is also registered with the Ministry of Health through the Allied Health Practioners Council (AHPC). MARS offers international certificates, re-certification courses and ACLS, BLS, customized courses as well as a combination of certain courses. To date MARS has trained over 15 000 people in emergency care through these courses and we are confident that the knowledge of emergency care passed by MARS has made a difference to the lives of many.
